This mat is a bona fide paradigm shift in the uninspired office chair mat category and a massive nod to good taste (which you clearly possess). But how will your partner or co-workers know you’re on the vanguard of interior design if you don’t offer any evidence? Let the Rug’d Chair Mat™ answer that question definitively and take one step closer to the office of your dreams.
This rug is perfect for my now 5-day-a-week WFH desk! While the rug wasn't intended to be cut down, my husband and I were able to take the rug apart, cut the PVC flat insert, fold the fabric back and the glue still holds! (This was to create a notched shape to slide in for a built in desk.) Love the sturdiness & design of this rug! And my hardwood floor underneath is much happier too!
I’ve been very happy with it so far. Quality seems excellent. My chair glides great over it and it’s a good size (I got the larger size). I have enough room for my foot rest and my chair without having to worry about falling off the back. No problems widthwise either. The only thing that isn’t perfect is the joint in the middle where it folds. It creates a slight dip that sometimes my chair wanted to roll into a little bit, but I easily fixed it by putting a piece of cardboard under it. It’s the tiniest of dips and was only a problem because my room is not level to begin with and I’m on plush carpet.
I wanted to update my previous review, but there's no edit feature, so... I mentioned that I had old berber carpet and that the ¼ inch seemed just fine. I'd like to amend that as a caution for anyone who might be riding that decision fence like I did. Anji Mountain staff thought the ½ inch would probably be the way to go given my description, but it wasn't in stock, and I figured the ¼ inch would be fine, and it seemed to be. However, a couple of weeks later and, with the 40" x 54" anyway, it is bowing at the edges when I'm sitting in the center, and while it still works beautifully, I feel as though I may be doing some damage. So, my remedy is that I'm going to get ⅛ inch plywood cut to size to support the chair mat, even though it's working just fine. I don't want to stress it and cause it to have a shorter life than deserved. For anyone who is wondering if the larger ¼ inch in the 40" x 54" size will be okay on worn, flattened-out carpet, I'm going to recommend going with the ½ inch unless it truly is commercial carpet (zero give). Even a little give will stress the larger size out. Hopefully my mistake will help someone else avoid it!
I couldn’t stand the thought of rolling around on a piece of plastic or industrial carpet. I am thrilled with the Maldives mat - it allows my chair to roll smoothly, while giving my office space a beautiful upgrade!
Customer service is responsive, knowledgeable, and professional. I initially thought I would wait for the ½" 40x58 Maldives, but decided to try the ¼", and it works beautifully. I have an old berber wall-to-wall carpet in my rented apartment. Even though there's some give, I decided to see if the ¼" would do well, and it really does. I have a heavy chair from Autonomous and, even though I switched out the casters, it was difficult to push without sitting in it, and nearly impossible to move without hopping when I was sitting in it. The chair mat has changed my work environment dramatically, not only because it's beautiful, but because I can roll this chair with one finger. And, I can roll when I'm in it. Easily. I felt trapped in a small space without being able to maneuver easily around this chair. Amazing what a chair mat will do. Thank you for this beautiful, very functional product.
